Far Fetched Acres was founded by Colleen Safford, one of NYC’s most recognized trainers, who wanted to create something better than standard dog boarding in New York. With over 25 years of experience, Colleen built a place rooted in heart, science, and the belief that dogs learn and live best when they feel safe and supported.
Alongside Jeanette Kelso - Director of Training & Behavior, Kate Walsh - Lead Trainer, Sara Munson - Director of Behavior & Trainer Development and an experienced, dog-loving team, Colleen has cultivated a culture of care grounded in force-free, positive reinforcement methods. This approach nurtures confidence, strengthens bonds, and ensures every dog is seen, respected, and supported in the way that works best for them.
