Learning Philosophy: Physical, Hands On Experience
At the core of our programming is the belief that true understanding comes from direct engagement with all aspects of animal care. Interns will participate in physical, hands on work – cleaning enclosures, preparing food, assisting with basic husbandry, and meticulous record-keeping. We view these tasks not as chores, but as foundational elements of a comprehensive education in animal behavior. Through these activities, interns will develop a deeper appreciation for animal needs, learn to observe subtle behavioral cues, understand the importance of sanitation and routine, and build a strong work ethic essential for any career in this field. These tasks provide the context and foundation for advanced behavioral observations and interventions.
